In the re-shooting of the film, the first day involved two characters: Michael and psycho 1. In the shot below you can see the costume that the two characters wore. Psycho 1 (on the left) is wearing a long, black coat and jeans. Whilst the jeans help to give the reading that the character is a stereotypically 'average' person with common values, the black coat does in fact reinforce the idea that he is the antagonist in this film since black connotes death and danger. I put make-up on the character's face in the same way I applied it to my own face (this can be found in a richer description on my post here). I did this so that the character can immediately be identified as being different from my other characters.
On the right is Michael. In this shot he's wearing a striped top, grey jumper and similarly grey jeans, along with a set of sturdy boots. The dull colours are something which is characteristic of protagonists' clothing in apocalyptic films. By wearing the colours he is, essentially he is prescribing to the stereotypical survivor in an apocalyptic, dystopian film. Although it's not entirely noticeable in the picture, Michael also wears make-up which mimics grass and mud stains, brushed onto his face. I applied this so that the audience's reading that Michael is surviving in an apocalyptic future, is reinforced. The post I made on Michael's make-up can be found here.
