Production: Re-shooting Day 2
Today I finished filming for Derange as I went out and filmed Maddy. Shooting went successfully. As with any filming, some pre-determined shots had to be altered but not too much. One of the real misfortunes was the cold. Luckily this didn't affect the footage but it did make the process that bit more uncomfortable!

Production: Re-Shooting Day 1 // Characters' Costume
In the re-shooting of the film, the first day involved two characters: Michael and psycho 1. In the shot below you can see the costume that the two characters wore. Psycho 1 (on the left) is wearing a long, black coat and jeans. Whilst the jeans help to give the reading that the character is a stereotypically 'average' person with common values, the black coat does in fact reinforce the idea that he is the antagonist in this film since black connotes death and danger. I put make-up on the character's face in the same way I applied it to my own face (this can be found in a richer description on my post here). I did this so that the character can immediately be identified as being different from my other characters.
On the right is Michael. In this shot he's wearing a striped top, grey jumper and similarly grey jeans, along with a set of sturdy boots. The dull colours are something which is characteristic of protagonists' clothing in apocalyptic films. By wearing the colours he is, essentially he is prescribing to the stereotypical survivor in an apocalyptic, dystopian film. Although it's not entirely noticeable in the picture, Michael also wears make-up which mimics grass and mud stains, brushed onto his face. I applied this so that the audience's reading that Michael is surviving in an apocalyptic future, is reinforced. The post I made on Michael's make-up can be found here.

Production: Re-shooting Day 1
Today was a successful day of shooting. The weather was perfect and I took multiple shots to ensure I made no mistakes with my filming this time. The last time I shot footage using the microphone I found I got a lot of feedback from the mic. To resolve this, this time I pointed the mic. away from the actors so that it would still pick up the sound but without the sound sounding abrasive on playback. I suspect the reason for this is because the camera quality doesn't match up with the superiority of the sound equipment.
I shot a few pictures for the poster and magazine article however the quality isn't too good so hopefully when I take a few more pictures on the second day of shooting, expected to be the 23rd February, the pictures will be much better.

Production: Update
Unfortunately some of my actors couldn't make it today, predominantly because of high risk of rain. In response to this, I have planned to film scenes 2, 4 and 6 tomorrow with Giles, James and Richard however set in a different location. The scenes will still be set in the countryside where it will be easier for the cast to reach the location. I will upload a second call sheet later tonight with regard to these changes. Furthermore, a filming permission slip will be signed also. The scenes with Maddy however will have to be shot when I come back to school from the holidays and I plan on shooting these last period/ after school on the 23rd February. With the permission of the school, I should be able to film on school premises. Failing that, I will be in contact with Peter Jackson, Katy Jackson's father who should be able to grant me permission to film on the site. (There will be no screaming so there's no issue with obtrusive noises disturbing livestock or pedestrians: this should give me enough leverage to film there).
I will also do some recordings during our media lesson that day.

Production: Second Script
After much deliberation and the absence of an actor on the only day of filming available, I've decided to produce a second script, working on the same plot but different storyline. The revised/ new script can be found below.

Production: Re-shooting
The camera equipment is booked and the actors are available so on the 16th February filming should commence! The issue with having one day to work with is obviously the risk of bad weather in which case, the second option for my short film may have to be implemented instead. However I have high hopes that the film should be completed to a high standard following this date.
