Post-Production: Editing Day 3

Today I worked on adding more clips to my short film and finally managed to put all of them onto the timeline. I made progress working on using Logic Pro, a sound editing program which I began using for the first time. Below are a few screenshots showing what I worked on during the two hours I spent editing after school.

I spoke with one of my media teachers and asked her about whether the narrative works and she gave me some very helpful tips on where to move forward with the work. Filters will be a crucial part of what I do as I begin nearing the completion of editing my film. What I plan to make out of the film is to use the filters to show that the film is a recording made by Michael, describing the pains and atrocities of the apocalypse as well as recounting his own personal struggle to deal with the loss of his dear friend, whom he loved. Flash backs and cross cuts can be expected to be used throughout, dispersed between the shots of Michael talking, implemented in order to make the film interesting.

Post-Production: Editing Day 1 & 2

Since the first and second day of editing I've spent roughly 4 hours working on adding the clips to the timeline. I still have a few more shots to add before I come to accurately editing the footage by adding edits, sound and filters. I've been working on Adobe Premier Pro to edit my footage. In the image below you can see that I've been editing the volume for one of my tracks.

In the screenshot below is one costume worn by Maddy as she plays Alicia in my film. In the shot we can see she is wearing dark grey/black trousers, a purple top and black boots. Just as with Michael's clothing, the colours aren't too bright but muted enough that the audience should get the reading that the film is subscribing to the conventions of apocalyptic films i.e. the costume. There's nothing too feminine about the clothing which suggests that the character is more masculine and practical: both are attributes given to characters in  sci-fi films, no matter what gender.

In the second photo is Alicia's second costume. The only difference with this costume is that she is wearing a plaid shirt over a black top. Again, the colours aren't too bright and because of this it makes the character much more easily camouflaged and thus the clothing is particularly suitable for the nature and actions of the characters trying to survive in my film. In addition to this costume, the character wears several necklaces (to signify that she holds feminine values and that the apocalypse hasn't happened yet) and a black coat.
